At Weeton St Michael’s CE Primary School children are at the heart of our curriculum. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop and build their self-esteem, self-confidence and a love for learning. We encourage our children to have high aspirations and strive for the best. We want our children to be responsible and begin to understand how they learn most effectively by the time they leave us.
The curriculum that we have developed for our children provides exciting, stimulating topics which the children become fully absorbed in using a cross-curricular approach. We include many curriculum subjects into each topic, making them relevant and meaningful for our children. The curriculum is carefully planned and sequenced to provide cumulative learning and continues to evolve to meet the needs and interests.
We encourage the use of different learning styles, from research based activities to creative tasks, using kinaesthetic, auditory and visual approaches to explore and deliver the topics to ensure we enable our children to develop all the skills they need to be confident and successful learners. All of our children are involved in the planning stage of new topics as we value their ideas and contributions; we believe that children learn best when they are able to steer and direct their own learning.
