Our Learning and Special School Events

One of the many advantages of being a small school is that we can do a huge range of activities and theme days together.  We believe that these opportunities where we learn together as a whole school builds the caring and supportive relationship that our staff and children experience.

World Book Day and Reading Cafe 2019

To celebrate World Book Day 2019 once again the children dressed as their favourite book characters.  KS1 ran a Reading Cafe and invited members of the community to come and enjoy a cup of tea and a piece of cake while sharing books.

Class One visit to Sizergh Castle

Class One had been spending some time learning about Castles so they decided to go and visit a real one!

Rotary Respect Awards 2019

Through our RE and thinking about the Christian and British Value of ‘Respect’ our Key Stage 2 children made nominations to the ‘Rotary Respect Awards’.  We were very proud to find out the many of them had been awarded commendations for their demonstration and examples of respect.

Shakespeare Event at Gawthorpe Hall

Year 5 and 6 visited Gawthorpe Hall to find out more about the life of William Shakespeare and his writing.  This brought to life some of the learning they had been doing in literacy.

Weeton Holy Week 2019

In the final week of the Spring Term we heard about the events of Holy Week through Worship in Church each morning.  We also had lots of fun celebrating Easter in traditional ways like egg decorating and making Easter cards.  A highlight of the week was the first ever Weeton Egg Mobile Wacky Races!!

Remembrance 2020

We couldn’t have a service in church this year but we still remembered the fallen in our class assembly. The children reflected on a day they remember.
Acorn Class made a Book of Remembrance and also drew pictures of poppies and Mrs Monteath brought in her son’s uniform which some of the children tried on.
Oak Class painted stones with Poppies and read poems in the School Assembly.
On the 11th November at 11am we stopped and thought of people that had been lost in wars and also people we love and have lost.
